How MeRT can help

Autism

“We had exhausted every available treatment hoping to help our daughter. Nothing worked — then we found Brain Treatment Center. MeRT changed everything for us.”

How we help

PTSD

“It was absolutely terrifying to not know what was wrong with me or how to fix the problem. BTC not only identified the deteriorated state of my brainwave activity, they restored its function... I consider the healing I experienced at BTC to be nothing short of a miracle.”

Sports Recovery

I can honestly say my brain is in a better place than it was before

“I’m two or three months past my last treatment, and I can honestly say my brain is in a better place than it was before. The emotional highs and lows I was living with have been stabilized. My cognition took off during that period and it hasn’t slowed down since.”

Nick Hardwick (Retired NFL Center, Chargers)

How we help

Depression

“I felt like I was alone even though I was surrounded by love and care. It was just a cloud that would linger over my life every now and again. BTC helped me better understand what was going on in my head and after a month of treatment I was grateful to be depression free and medication free for the first time in my life.”

Our Technology - MeRT or Magnetic Resonance Therapy

We identify & nurture where the brain has difficulty communicating.

MeRT is a highly customized use of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation or TMS, based on sophisticated diagnostics. It is a non-invasive, painless, and drug-free option for the treatment of a wide range of neurological conditions.

MeRT protocols start with a quantitative EEG or qEEG. The qEEG allows us to see patterns of dysfunction that identify varying disorders of the brain, such as learning and behavioral issues, emotional disorders, brain injury, and others. The qEEG done on each patient provides us with a map that guides each individually tailored treatment.

The equipment used for treatment with MeRT is FDA-cleared. It generates magnetic waves that allow us to gently stimulate specifically targeted areas of the brain. MeRT Treatment protocols have seen some incredible success in improving conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injuries and Concussions, Depression, Anxiety, Sleep Disorders, and many more.

Non-invasive

MeRT is pain-free and non-invasive, in fact most people find the MeRT sessions very relaxing

FDA Cleared Equipment

We only use equipment that has been cleared by the FDA. Our clinicians use this equipment off-label.

MeRT Targeted Treatments

Look, it’s personal.

Magnetic Resonance Therapy, MeRT, begins by identifying where each individual’s brain is having difficulty communicating. These areas are then nurtured to strengthen their functionality.

Step 1

Record EEG

We conduct an eyes-closed 10 minute quantitative electroencephalogram (q-EEG) and an electrocardiogram (EKG) tests that measure brain wave frequencies, heart rate and brain-heart coherence.

Our scientific and clinical teams analyze the results to better understand your brain state.

Step 2 EEG Analysis & Review

We use a patented approach with your neurophysiological data to develop a customized treatment plan that aims to encourage healthy brain communication.

All MeRT treatment parameters are approved by a licensed neurosurgeon or physician.

Step 3 Treatment

While sitting comfortably, a trained technician will position the magnetic coil on your head. This coil will deliver your individualized treatment protocol to the targeted region of the brain.

The technician applies stimulation for 6-8 seconds per minute. A typical appointment is 45 minutes, 30 minutes of which involve stimulation.

Step 4 Progress Evaluation

We take sequential q-EEG and EKG recordings every 10 treatments to monitor progress and make any necessary modifications to your treatment protocol. This ensures we're always taking the best approach based on your current neurological state. A typical course of MeRT varies, but on average ranges between 4-6 weeks, Monday through Friday.
